Inspired by Nature - Since 1978

Taylor design's
ethos is simple ...

To create outdoor spaces which are beautiful,  emotive and inspired by nature.

The primary objective to creating these outdoor spaces is to make you feel good by being connected with nature. I design beautiful, affordable gardens. The success and end result has little to do with how much money you spend on your landscaping, it’s more to do with good taste, and how to use/combine materials and ideas creatively in the design process.

Commercial & Industrial

Commercial landscape design is an interesting area to work in; it has a unique criterion given that many of the works in commercial environs are a site specific, as such it requires the skill of a professional to ensure the specific brief of a project is achieved.

Christchurch, sitting in the rain shadow of the Southern Alps is one of the driest cities in New Zealand but still receives regular, if moderate rainfall, and in conjunction with cool summers and mild winters presents the perfect opportunity to enjoy outdoor living and spend time in your garden. Gardens actually define a neighbourhood; they are one of the most important features potential house buyers consider whilst searching for their new home.

But for you as an individual wanting to maximise the potential of your garden, not just as an asset bringing added value to your property, but as a part of your home that you can utilise, year-round the design of your outdoor space is crucial.

David Taylor, the driving force behind Taylor Design, has been active as a landscape designer and consultant for more than 35 years bringing his landscape design service to Christchurch and surrounding areas including Leithfield and Amberley to the north, Oxford and Cust to the west as well as the Selwyn District towns of Glentunnel and Kirwee. David’s philosophy when it comes to garden and landscape design is simple; you don’t necessarily need to spend vast amounts of money to create your idyllic garden, more important is a keen eye for design, utilising appropriate materials thoughtfully and creatively, along with the expertise to bring all facets of the garden together.

David is a grounded individual who enjoys the process of collaborating with his clients to achieve the optimum results; he believes in delivering excellent customer service and his aim is always to provide 100% satisfaction in every job that he undertakes whichever of his services you call upon.

And there are 3 main services provided by Taylor Design – advisory and consulting, planting plans and of course, landscape design plans. As a consultant, David can call upon his considerable experience as second opinion or a new set of eyes on a project, whether a whole new garden is being planned or an upgrade or enhancement to an existing garden. This service is particularly popular at such time that home owners prepare to market their property for sale.

To some, planting plans may seem to be an extravagance, but the reality is, that a carefully considered planting plan can often save money in the long run. Choosing the wrong plants for your garden and situating them in less-than-ideal locations are common and costly errors made by inexperienced gardeners, but David’s easy to follow planting plan will ensure the perfect results.

David’s main service is landscape design plans which are delivered in two stages, the first of which will define the appearance of your garden, incorporating whichever features you may choose, such as raised beds, ponds and pools, drives and pathways, shaded seating areas and BBQs. The second stage includes a detailed planting plan, and the complete and final plan will be presented in both black and white and colour formats.

For the ultimate landscape and garden design in Kirwee, Rangiora and beyond, entrust yourself to the outstanding service of Taylor Design.
